Many churches preach about being a good person and doing good works. We think about being good and doing good things for others which prompts us to give to various charitable organizations or volunteer in our churches and communities. But being a good person and/or doing good works does not create a relationship with our Lord, Jesus Christ. On the other hand, when seeking a relationship with our Lord, the fruit of that relationship is being a good person and doing good works.
All of that to say that being a good person, even one who attends church will not lead a person to have a relationship with the Godhead. Our focus as Christians is not in doing busy work, but in being in right relationship with God, the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Through a right relationship with the Godhead, we will have a better understanding of our individual purpose and function within the Kingdom.
More importantly, developing a spiritual relationship is what we are supposed to do. We are to learn to hear the voice of the Holy Spirit for ourselves and we are to discern spiritual matters. We must find our way back to our spiritual selves so that we can hear what the Father has to say to us via the Holy Spirit more clearly.
Living in this world, we are trained to judge our surrounding with our natural eyes. We make decisions based on what we see and hear in the natural. But, we were always meant to first see and hear in the spirit and then understand the physical manifestations in our lives.
A lot of us were closest to God when we were children. But somewhere along the way, we got further and further away from God as we learned our ABC’s. The world system as we know it is in direct conflict with the Kingdom of God as it is supposed to be on earth. So navigating through this world does take some extra effort in having the ability to hear the voice of the Holy Spirit. I won’t lie, it’s not easy, but it is necessary. Our country is facing unprecedented times and it will be necessary to hear the Holy Spirit’s voice for our safety and well being.
This message is not meant to scare anyone. In fact, I consider it a blessing that the Lord is warning us of what is to come. He will not leave us or forsake us and He is true to His word that He will cover us. But we must grow up in this area so that we don’t miss what He is telling us in this hour.
The basic component for being a Christian is not where a person goes to church or how much time is spent volunteering at a shelter. The basic component is our relationship with the Godhead. Throughout the bible, those whom God favored were those who had the closest relationships with Him. We too are supposed to seek a close relationship with the Him.
